Chrysler lleva la super carretera de la información a las carreteras

La super carretera de la información llega a las carreteras de verdad. Y es que Chrysler anunció que ofrecerá acceso a Internet en toda su línea de autos 2009, de manera opcional en los Estados Unidos.
El servicio, provisto por UConnect Web, combina WiFi y redes celulares 3G para entregar acceso instantáneo a Internet. Este servicio te permitirá revisar tu email, bajar música o subir imágenes directo de una tarjeta SD a Flickr, además de ofrecer conectividad para tu consola portátil u otros dispositivos WiFi dentro del automóvil. O sea, una especie de router 3G con cobertura WiFi dentro de tu auto.
Prometen ofrecer el servicio a un precio competitivo. Más detalles a partir de mañana cuando será presentado en Detroit. A ver que tal se viene para aprovechar los tiempos muertos a la hora del taco.

Kuchofuku: Aire acondicionado para tu cama

A medida que se aproxime el verano con su calurosas noches, serán varios los que querrán mantenernos frescos con el Kuchofuku. Esta especie de colchón, tiene dos silenciosos ventiladores ubicados en el extremo de los pies, los cuales hacen circular el aire a través de una serie de membranas. El Kuchofuku tiene tres velocidades para que elijas la temperatura que más te acomode y un timer para que no te congeles de madrugada. Sacar a 400 dólares.

TRANSPORTATION TUES: Electric Car Share Program for Paris

Remember Vélib, the Parisian bicycle rental service? Well, get ready for Autolib! Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoë announced plans to provide 4,000 electric car-share vehicles for in-town transit by next year. As part of the city’s Autolib program, the EVs will be located at several spots around Paris and available for drivers looking to make short trips around town.
Vélib has been a resounding success, and Autolib is the next step in the plan to green Paris. The program will consist of 700 pickup points set all across the city. The program is geared towards people who don’t find themselves in need of a vehicle regularly, but can use it every once in a while. It will be similar to the car-sharing programs that one can find around a number of cities, but will be the first time that a city manages a car share system.
Is encouraging the use of vehicles a good thing? Overall the emissions from this system will be quite small, as they will all be electric vehicles. Still, here’s hoping that Parisians will not be discouraged from still using public transportation. Expect to see this program up and running in 2009.
